Xin Chao!
As many of you already know, I will be heading off to the beautiful country of Vietnam on the 15th of August for a month – only 38 days to go…not that I’m counting! This will be my first experience of South East Asia and I already know that it will be a completely different experience of life to what I’m used to in the Western world.
My First Task
My first task was a very important one, finding a rucksack! This was my first priority because not only would I have to be comfortable living out of it for many weeks/months at a time but I would also have to be comfortable carrying it on my back for many miles at a time to reach my desired destination.
Osprey rucksacks are known to be incredibly reliable, especially with their lifetime guarantee. Aswell as this, they are also known to be very lightweight, great for me as it means that I can pack more clothes before feeling strain on my back! Although I have only started chucking clothes into it, it already seems like a mini tardis as I never realised how much I had actually chucked in it!
My trip is at the end of summer, meaning that I can take full advantage of the summer sales before I go! I am hoping that my next blog will be on the great buys that I have gotten for my trip and my favourite shops to shop in for holiday clothes. In Vietnam there is quite a distinct style, mix & match I would call it…and although the clothes that I have bought would make me stand out here in the UK, I will definitely fit in over there!
Anyways thank you – or cám on as they would say over in Vietnam – for checking out this blog post and keep an eye out for my next post which will be coming very soon.

Exciting stuff–always helpful to get good gear recommendations! I can’t wait to read about your trip, especially the volunteering component.
